Mehmet Erdoğdu - Olive Women Exhibition
Since ancient Greece, OLIVE represents abundance and purity. A fruit that cannot be handled by those who were not virgin in old times. Thousands of years it has been the foundation of civilization.
Olive tree is female. It is women. Nutritious and generous. The symbol of the rootstock. It has been called “The Immortal Tree”.
This productive, fertile, yet durable tree, during pruning, the selected branches, and use it as a canvas; That gives me incredible pleasure.
I love working with different materials and on different topics. That's what I'm investigating, not what's not to do.
The women in my paintings are what I have experienced, observed, felt.
Look at the faces of women. The eyes; their gaze is what adds meaning to our lives, filling our heart with love, respect, compassion. Woman makes us feel all these feelings. The symbol of freedom, independence and loyalty.
When I do my pictures, I always do it for myself. These paintings, which are mine until the end, are not mine anymore after they are finished.
I have prepared this exhibition in the texture of the olive tree and in the emotional flood that has been given to me by the aesthetic perfection of nature. I enjoyed so much creating my pictures. I hope you will feel what I feel.
